Premise
Remainstreet is a survival-horor game with slice of life elements. It takes place largely in the town of Assurance, approximately four years after the end of the world as humanity knew it. Characters have to try and find a way to create sustainable living for themselves in an area with cold winters and scarce supplies.

It initially takes place in a mix of a Walking Dead style Zombie apocalypse with Silent Hill elements. As the game goes on there will be potential for various other zombies and nightmare/hallucination monsters to eventually become a part of the world around them. (Especially from the worlds of characters who join)

Most of the game's focus will be on rebuilding the town, finding supplies, creating methods of supplying energy/food to the town, and defending the town from zombies and other survivors. Some of the plots include zombie hordes, passing antagonistic or friendly survival groups and small group plots focused on exploring nearby towns, farms, warehouses and vehicle graveyards for supplies whenever the fog lifts.

New arrivals are handled as a stray group of characters passing through town.
Setting
Zombies. An impossible, improbable and all around fictional monster that captured the infatuation and obsession of the world. They could be found in movies, books, video games, comics, plays and even pamphlets from the CDC. But while everyone was having a blast with their fictional existence, making zombie plans and creating how-to manuals for survival, the world was unprepared for zombies to actually exist.

It's not yet known where the zombies came from, or what caused people to start to turn. But death is no longer the end on planet Earth. It's the beginning of something new. No one is safe, and the undead far outnumber the living population left trying to survive on this planet.

A dense fog has surrounded the outskirts of the town of Assurance. It waits at the ends of roads and the backs of buildings, weaving through the trees as a near perfect map of where the town ends and the rest of the world begins. The buildings, covered in graffiti of varying degrees both creative and distressed, were boarded up by the previous residents. They remain largely so, where they have not been broken into or taken down since the rediscovery of the town. Now and then the dense, whispering fog will lift in places, allowing a few intrepid or desperate explorers to come and go, into the unwelcoming and desolate world beyond.

If the writing on the walls is to be believed, most of the living world is gone, and the fog is both a boon and a curse, keeping the inhabitants of the town moderately safer than those out in the world beyond. That world belongs to the dead, now. Survival is possible, but only if people can learn to work together to create a community in Assurance.

People come and go, by choice or at the hands of death, and straying into the fog can have severe consequences for those who dare, or rewards, if luck is somehow on their side. But there is one thing the town of Assurance seems to promise. More people will come. Until there is no one left to be drawn into the town hidden in the fog.
